ZOE LIFE INSTITUTE

Welcome to Zoe Life Institute. Zoe is the Greek term meaning “Life from above.” Our name emphasizes how are not just concerned about life, but about “Zoe life,” a distinct life that is not natural. We understand that personal and relational flourishing does not naturally and automatically happen. In fact, the “auto-pilot” of life will work against outcomes of human well-being. As a nonprofit training institute, we are committed to an integrated and wholistic understanding of people as individuals and relational beings who can make intentional life choices for prevention of problems, for growth and development, and for healing and restoration.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to equip individuals, couples, and families with information, inspiration, and
implementation to elevate life choices for personal and relational flourishing.

OUR APPROACH

Our approach involves a structured curriculum targeting a specific life area with strategies that are educational and experiential in a group process. These curricula are time limited and vary in length depending on the topic and the outcome objective. Courses will cycle during the Fall, Spring, and Summer. Some courses may be offered one night a week for anywhere from 6-12 weeks. Other courses may be offered intensively over a weekend or during one week. Zoe Life Institute may be thought of as a “Life University” for continuing education that equips you personally as well as certifying you in trainings to equip others.

OUR "LIFE LEARNERS"

Our “Life Learners” include anyone. Our training opportunities are open to everyone regardless of backgrounds. Our courses are designed to address the life needs of these four groupings:

  • General Public

  • Mental Health Professionals

  • Clergy

  • Graduate Students of Psychology and/or Theology

OUR PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE

Our philosophy of life is grounded in the “Unity of Truth” concept. More specifically, Zoe Life Institute is committed to an understanding of life and a training for life that is 1) Spiritual (zoe); 2) Physiological (bios) and 3) Psychological (psyche). The New Testament uses all three Greek words which may be translated as “life” to capture the complexity and unity of life. Zoe life, the life from above, is the supernatural life which is not limited to the material or natural life. Bios life, is the physical and material make up of our natural being. Psyche life, is the natural life unique to humans including both the material and the immaterial. Zoe Life Institute is committed to the belief that there is a unity of truth that allows and even promotes the integration of the three distinct disciplines of theology, biology, and psychology. These three disciplines have different methodologies of “knowing” or coming to an understanding of what is true. This is NOT to say that all “truth claims” are true. The “Unity of Truth” understanding guides us to embrace “true truth claims” that are consistent and congruent with one another even if derived from different but valid methodologies. It is the focus of Zoe Life Institute to utilize valid “truth claims” about life from the empirical research of biology and psychology and from a theological perspective that is consistent with scripture and Christian tradition (more on this in resource link).
